You may have potentially harmful foods in your pantry or refrigerator NOW that could hurt or kill the ones you love.  Here’s a list of the latest food recalls courtesy of The Merman Law Firm, experts in injuries caused by food poisoning cases.  You are NOT going to believe who’s on the list!

Allergens

The presence of food allergens should be taken very seriously. These can sometimes have mild symptoms, but they can also be life threatening. Unfortunately, allergens are high on the list for recalls this week:

  • Kenny’s Great Pies, Inc. are recalling some of their Buckeye Pies. It is said that there was a labeling error which did not include the presence of wheat in the products. The affected products have the product UPC# 7 11276 50277 7.
  • Aunt Beth’s Cookies are recalling the following cookies sold between January 1, 2017 and September 28, 2017 due to undeclared traces of peanut or tree-nuts:

-Amish Sugar

-Chocolate Chip N Chunk

-Frosted Brownie

-Frosted Sugar

-M&M Candy

-Mudslide Triple Chocolate

-Oatmeal Raisin

-Red Velvet

-Snickerdoodle

  • In thirteen different Whole Foods Market stores located in Arizona, California and Nevada, they are recalling their apple cinnamon hand pies for containing egg not listed on the label. The PLU number is 23646100000 and have best-by dates of October 15, 2017 or earlier.
  • S.K. Foods, Inc. are recalling their TASTE OF INSPIRATIONS CLASSIC RED SKIN POTATO SALAD sold at Hannaford Supermarkets with “SELL BY: 10-20-17 4909-1” on the lid. They may contain undeclared egg and are mismarked with the incorrect UPC 25439 98422 on the bottom label.
  • La Terra Fina are recalling their 10 oz. Spinach Artichoke & Parmesan Dip & Spread with UPC 6-40410-51327-3 and BEST BY NOV-01-2017 due to undeclared egg. They have the incorrect UPC code and ingredient statement.
  • GB Green Gastronome, LLC are recalling about 8,000 pounds of their chicken and pork products for undeclared coconut milk, coconut cream, and tree nuts. The following products have been affected and have the establishment numbers “EST. 21418” or “EST. P-21418” inside the USDA mark of inspection:

-2-lb. plastic packages containing “Pork, Sausage & Cabbage Steam Bun.”

-2-lb. plastic packages containing “Steam Bun with Roasted Pork.”

-2-lb. plastic packages containing “Chicken Vegetable Steam Bun.”

Foreign Bodies

Foreign bodies? Probably sounds a lot scarier than it usually is, but it can still lead to injury or illness. This week we have a few products to look out for:

  • Battistoni Italian Specialty Meats, LLC are recalling nearly 22,630 pounds of their ready-to-eat products for containing aluminum (an aluminum paper clip was found in a product shipped to a retailer). The products they are recalling are:

-18.9-lb. VACUUM-SEALED packages containing “Battistoni GENOA SALAMI WITH WINE,” with lot codes 31B and 05A. The products have “Sell by” dates of 2/21/18, 2/23/18, 2/27/18, 3/2/18 and 8/17/18.

-15-lb. VACUUM-SEALED packages containing “Battistoni Hot Cooked Capocollo Boneless Pork Shoulder Butt Coated with Spices & Paprika,” with lot code 33D. The products have a “Sell by” date of 11/19/17.

  • Roundy’s Supermarkets, Inc. are recalling some of their Ready-to-Eat chili and soup products for containing hard plastic. The following products have been affected and have the establishment number “EST. 33997” or “P-33997” inside the USDA mark of inspection:

-24-lb. boxes containing six 4-lb. bags of “Meat and Bean Soup in Tomato Base” with lot code 354191-2767

-24-lb. boxes containing six 4-lb. bags of “Santa Fe Style Turkey and White Chicken Chili with Beans” with lot code 354464-2767

Microbiological Contamination 

Last, but certainly not least on our list of recalls we have the nasty and extremely dangerous food-borne bacteria that most often leads to food poisoning. Luckily, we only have a couple products to share this week:

  • Organic Spices, Inc. dba Spicely Organic are recalling their Organic Tarragon Lot No. OTW100134 because it may be contaminated with Salmonella. The affected products are 0.4oz (11g) with “best if used by: 12/31/20 OTW100134”.
  • Vermont Livestock Slaughter and Processing, LLC are recalling about 133 pounds of their 1-lb. vacuum sealed packages containing “Bread & Butter Farm Ground Beef” with lot codes #072517BNB and #072417BNB and have the establishment number “EST. 9558” inside the USDA mark of inspection. They may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.
